Walmart Canada, Ghost Kitchen Brands partner on meal pickup, delivery effort

Ghost Kitchen Brands and Walmart Canada are partnering to offer a one-stop meal pickup and delivery service.

The first Ghost Kitchen has opened in the St. Catharines Walmart. Further locations in Woodstock, Toronto, Lachenaie and Saint-Constant are to be opened in the coming months, according to a press release.

Participating brands include Quiznos, The Cheesecake Factory Bakery, Pepes Perogies, Rocky’s Italian, Canadian Jerk, Slush Puppie, Monster Cupcakes, Beyond Meat, Amaya Indian Street Food, Taco del Mar, Lola’s Latin Food, Tazo, Red Bull, Crepe Delicious and Nescafé and Ben & Jerry’s.

All meals are prepared in a kitchen for pickup or delivery.

“Walmart Canada is a perfect strategic partner for us as we continue to innovate and reinvent the restaurant industry with our unique restaurant concept,” said George Kottas, founder and CEO of Ghost Kitchen Brands, in the press release. “We’re both one-stop shops and we recognize the value of affordable, practical solutions for our customers.”

Customers can order freshly prepared meals in-store and online for contactless pick-up or delivery (via a third-party app like Uber Eats) and combining the brands.

“We believe in the strategy and vision of Ghost Kitchen and are very excited to be the first retailer to partner with Ghost Kitchens,” said Sam Hamam, senior director for licensees at Walmart Canada, in the press release. “We’re always looking for ways to improve our customers’ shopping experience through better access to affordable products, services and brands.”

Ghost Kitchen Brands strives to reach every Canadian in all urban markets within 30 minutes, 24/7.
