Uber to acquire alcohol delivery startup Drizly for $1.1 billion

Uber will acquire alcohol delivery company Drizly for $ 1.1 billion, the companies said in a press release on Tuesday.

The acquisition is another foray by Uber into app delivery – the Uber Eats service rivals DoorDash and Seamless.

Drizly will eventually integrate with the company’s Uber Eats app, but it will also keep its own Drizly app as per the release.

“By adding Drizly to the Uber family, we can accelerate this journey by bringing Drizly to the Uber audience and expanding its geographic footprint to our global presence in the years to come,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, in the press release.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the summer.
