Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken debuts pickup lockers| Coping with COVID-19
According to a press release, Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken, a biscuit and fried chicken restaurant concept, has introduced a heated locker system at its flagship location in Durham, North Carolina to improve contactless ordering options for diners. The structure keeps deliveries and orders hot and fresh while on the go, while reducing the interaction between customers and employees.
“The lockers are stacked glass booths, each with its own heating system to keep the food lines hot even if you pick up your order an hour after it’s picked up,” said Tom Ferguson, Founder and CEO of Rise. said in the publication.
“I never thought I would make a delivery, that wasn’t my original vision,” said Ferguson. “However, I am grateful that I pushed past the lines that I dragged in the sand because we fully implemented our delivery and to-go services in February 2020, which has kept us in good shape after the pandemic left behind. “
The company also implemented kiosk ordering and roadside collection.
The system will be installed at two additional corporate locations in North Carolina in March, and Ferguson is encouraging franchisees to follow suit.
