Renzi Foodservice to end curbside pickup and home delivery | Top Stories
WATERTOWN – Renzi Foodservice will shortly no longer offer roadside pickups and home deliveries, which began last May, and will again only serve its business customers.
Last May, the locally owned company unveiled its new online marketplace, Renzi Market, which provided a new way for the public to securely source essential groceries and supplies online and from home during the COVID-19 pandemic shopping.
In an open letter to the community, however, the company announced that it would close the online Renzi market to the public with effect from March 31st. This is the final date on which roadside pickup and home delivery orders are placed on RenziMarket.com within the city of Watertown and City of Watertown.
The family-run company has made the decision to fully focus the company’s efforts on serving its business customers, the letter reads.
The company’s focus will once again be on supporting local business partners, including independent restaurants, hospitals and retirement homes, kindergartens through 12th grade schools, colleges and universities, and much more.
The company said it was overwhelmed with community support and thanked its “dedicated customers”.
“We are grateful that we were able to provide these essential services to our community to fill this void in the supply chain,” said the company. “Our success in these times is thanks to the hard work and commitment of our entire team.”
After the pandemic began, the company said it was evident that the food service industry was severely affected. In order to react to these changes in the industry, the company has adapted to the changes and, according to Renzi representatives, successfully launched the initiative for collection and delivery to your home on the roadside of the Renzi market.
The shift in its efforts came at a time when retail stores were seeing a void in the food supply chain at the start of the pandemic, the letter went on to say.
“We look forward to continuing to serve as a trusted long-term partner for our local business community – and having better days for all of us,” the letter reads. “We are forever grateful for the unwavering support of our community, and after nearly 45 years in business, we’ve never been so proud to call Upstate New York home.”
