Moving mistakes: 45 percent of Americans stress about this, study says

It turns out that last minute stressful packing is the biggest mistake among Americans. The results showed that 45 percent of Americans have experienced the stress that comes with last minute packing.

Other mistakes Americans have made are: furniture that does not fit into the planned space (37 percent), doing everything yourself (36 percent), not saving enough for moving costs (35 percent) and getting new furniture delivered too late ( 34 percent.)

The study, conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with Article, looked at the exercise behavior and habits of 2,000 people who had previously moved – and found that moving to a new home is one of the most stressful things in life before planning and planning a wedding a child.

What is the biggest challenge when moving? 41 percent say that the cleaning of the old place is the greatest moving stressor.

Other moving loads are putting together furniture (36 percent), planning the logistics of the actual move (36 percent), packing the old room (35 percent) and managing the children (34 percent).

“It’s no surprise that Americans find moving around stressful and that more than a third consider furniture problems a common movement mistake,” said Andy Prochazka, CMO of Article who commissioned the survey. “The survey shows that the delivery and setup of furniture has a significant impact on the moving experience.”

Additionally, moving around with others can be a real struggle. Three in ten respondents said moving with children was the most difficult, while another 21 percent said moving with a significant other or spouse was extremely difficult.

Americans hate exercise so much that they would be willing to give up some of their favorite things to avoid doing it. 43 percent of the people surveyed said that they would rather give up alcohol than deal with moving.

But it’s not just alcohol that Americans would give up to avoid a dreaded move. Thirty-seven percent happily give up chocolate so they don’t have to pack their things, while 36 percent at DMV would rather stand in line than deal with the stress of moving around.

35 percent of respondents said they would rather file their taxes than plan a move, while another 29 percent would rather go to the dentist than move.

But it’s not all doom and darkness. 82 percent of those surveyed stated that they could learn from their movement errors and would not do the same in the future.

“There are ways to make the process easier and less painful, e. For example, choosing furniture assembly services, or choosing companies to fix problems on-site at delivery if there is a problem with delivery, ”added Prochazka. “By choosing the right store, you can alleviate the stress of movement-related errors in furniture so you can relax faster in your new home.”
