IOOF Home moving forward in vaccination efforts
MASON CITY, Iowa – As Iowa awaits more COVID-19 vaccines, the IOOF Home hits another milestone.
The facility recently completed its second round of Pfizer vaccinations for employees and residents. All but 4 residents received at least one dose of the vaccine and some received both doses while half of the staff received the vaccine. On February 28, the pharmacy will give second doses to employees and residents.
Shelly Schneider, director of nursing, says it is remarkable and a blessing to get to this point.
“I am very happy that we have come this far. The positivity rate is so low that we can approach the golden day when our families can come to visit. That is our ultimate goal.”
Schneider adds that the plan is being developed to safely welcome personal visits to the IOOF home.
“It’s an inside visit, but it’s not a physical, contact visit. We have screens that separate families and residents because some families haven’t been vaccinated or screened. I don’t know how the whole process goes, but I’m In the Hope we will take care of it soon. “
