GMC Hummer Edition 1 electric pickup so popular it might build more, report says

More of that? Could be.

People really were into that GMC Hummer EV when the brand finally tore the cloak off the electric pickup earlier this year. So much so that the Hummer EV Edition 1 sold out in 10 minutes. GMC is reportedly considering building more of these based on the overwhelming response.

According to dealer sources who spoke to the Detroit Free Press in a report last Tuesday, the brand told its dealer that it could make more of the Edition 1 trucks available. It’s not clear how many GMC plans will be built when production begins next fall, but the fact that the entire allotment is selling out so quickly suggests that not many will be launched. GMC did not immediately return Roadshow’s request for comment on the possibility of a larger production run.

The Hummer EV is gradually being shipped to dealers and buyers, and Edition 1, as the name suggests, is the first of them all. Then in 2022 buyers can purchase a still well-equipped Hummer EV fairing called EV3X, and an EV2X fairing will go into production in 2023. In four years, the base Hummer EV will finally go into production, unless GM speeds up the timeline at some point. It already moved production for an EV forward: the Cadillac Lyriq.

Edition 1 prices start at a whopping $ 112,595 including destination. This makes it the most expensive GM vehicle the automaker sells. The EV3X starts at $ 99,995, the EV2X starts at $ 89,995, and the base model starts at $ 79,995. Performance and efficiency are significantly improved with every trim, but that’s to be expected. Those who put up six-digit numbers for Edition 1 will be the owners of a 1,000 horsepower super truck with an estimated range of 350 miles on a single charge.

When GMC gets more of this out, rest assured that this is where you will hear it first.
