Giant Eagle converting store to curbside-pickup-delivery center

AKRON, Ohio – The giant eagle on Howe Avenue is being temporarily converted into a roadside pickup and delivery center, the grocery store said Tuesday.

The transition is expected to allow the company to increase the number of roadside pickup and delivery jobs for customers in the Akron and Canton areas.

“This temporary store relocation will allow us to dramatically increase our roadside pickup and fulfillment pickup and delivery capabilities for the surrounding communities in Akron and Canton,” said Jannah Jablonowski, spokeswoman for Giant Eagle. The store – on Howe Ave. 230, Akron, in the plaza at Chapel Hill Shopping Center – will be closed to the public on Saturday, April 4th at 9:00 p.m. The new format will take effect on Sunday 5th April. Guests can place roadside pickup or delivery orders at or through the company’s grocery app. The slots are available daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The in-store pharmacy will continue to operate for picking up or returning prescriptions for both the pharmacy and transit. The pharmacy is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
