U.S. stocks fell early Friday and posted a four-day winning streak as the undecided presidential election and escalating coronavirus cases weighed on investors.

Starting Friday morning, former Vice President Joe Biden stepped back from President Donald Trump in the crucial state of Georgia and narrowed the gap in Pennsylvania as votes continue to be counted in both states. To win the election, Biden must secure either Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina or Pennsylvania, while Trump must win all four states. Late on Thursday, Trump made “unsubstantiated claims” about election fraud and made investors concerned about entering Friday’s trading session.
