Florida woman caught on camera using racial slur against Black delivery workers |
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. (WBBH / CNN) – A Florida woman was caught on camera, including naming two black men the N word after being upset about a truck blocking her driveway.
The cell phone video shows the woman saying the n-word several times during the January 23 incident in Lehigh Acres.
Will Osley and Melvin Finley, who owns OF Logistics moving company, said they were unloading sheet metal from a semi-trailer when the woman confronted them.
“He and me are in the back of the truck,” Finley said. “We’re still working. We are still unloading the trays onto the pallet. We hear this excitement on the other side of the truck, which is getting louder and more intense. “
Once the woman’s neighbor called 911 to report the incident, according to an audio recording from WBBH-TV.
“I have people helping me here and she calls them the N word,” said the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous. “I didn’t know she wanted the truck to be moved. She just started yelling at me about my fence and how I don’t have permission for it. The guys who help me call her the N word a couple of times. “
In a telephone interview with WBBH-TV, the woman identified as Gina Brashear spoke about the use of racial fraud.
“It doesn’t matter if I said it 100 times in 30 seconds,” she said. “There’s nothing illegal in saying it.”
“I don’t care who’s upset,” she continued. “I don’t care that I’m being called a racist.”
The men said they had never seen an incident like this before.
“I’ve been offended once before. It’s nothing new to me, but this time … it just feels a little different, ”Finley said. “I have a 7 year old son and I fear the day he would go through something similar to what I went through.”
“We still have a very long way to go,” he continued. “We didn’t get as far as we claim. We still have a long way to go. “
